What is BIM?

CAD in Engineering

BIM is an acronym for Building Information Modelling or Building Information Management. It is a highly collaborative process that allows architects, engineers, real estate developers, contractors, manufacturers, and other construction professionals to plan, design, and construct a structure or building within one 3D model.

CAD is a valuable tool for engineers as it allows them to perfect their designs before building prototypes. Engineers can also simulate designs to test stress levels, fluid flows, and project tolerances, among other factors.

It’s used across a wide range of engineering fields, including buildings, infrastructure, telecommunications networks, electrical circuits, thermodynamics and mechanical parts. Like in architecture, engineers use BIM CAD software to help improve structural fabrication, minimise errors and streamline collaboration.

Versatility of CAD

In construction, CAD software can simplify blueprints, provide uniform measurements, and make adjustments during the project. It can also digitise construction sites and link project information from design to construction.

CAD is also used for the visualisation and design of products in a wide variety of other sectors, including city planning, animation, metal fabrication, carpentry, fashion, interior design, game design and manufacturing.

CADScope's BIM Services

CAD refers to the use of computers in the design process of objects, structures, and buildings. It’s primarily used to create highly accurate 2D drawings and 3D models, but it covers every step in the design process, from conceptualisation to testing.

With this, CADScope is heavily educated in all stages of delivery and aims to be able to provide assistance as per Soft Landing requirements, from working with consultants on the concept to working with builders on the build, maintenance, and facilities management to give O&Ms, record drawings, and BIM data to assist in building projects at all stages.
